Angioplasty/Stenting

Percutaneous Transluminal Angioplasty (PTA), also known as balloon angioplasty, in a minimally invasive procedure to open narrowed or blocked blood vessels, often due to atherosclerosis. During the procedure, a catheter with an angioplasty balloon mounted at the tip of the catheter is inserted into the affected vessel. Once in place, the balloon is inflated, which compresses plaque against the vessel walls, widening the vessel, and improving blood flow.

In some cases, a stent is also placed during the procedure to maintain vessel patency and prevent the vessel from narrowing again.
